  2. The senate on Friday, passed the controversial telecommunications bill after more than eight hours of debate. This was in addition to the walking out of six opposition members. The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has threatened to contest the constituionality of the monopoly status granted to Cable & Wireless by this bill, in court.
