- Inflation rate declines for second straight month
The inflation rate for the month of August 2003 was 1.4%. This is lower than the 1.53% in the prevuous month and well below the 2.46% peak in June. The monthly inflation rate started to rise in april this year, fueled by increases in the foreign exchange rate, the introduction of GCT on a number of new items and higher oil prices leading up to the war on Iraq.
